The season for adventures..

Its that time of year again when I get to put on my hiking boots, pack my bag and set off into the wilderness for a few days with the students on an Outdoor Education camp. Although I don't teach in this field, I always love setting out for an adventure of hiking and canoeing. It is lovely to have a few days out of the office, to enjoy nature and hopefully take some lovely photos.

I do wish my tent looked as lovely as this one but I think I might be a little cold during the evening with the winter chill setting in. I will be back on Thursday afternoon, just in time to attend the local charity Sex in the City 2 event. So I will be making a seriously quick change from my hiking boots to heels.

Flea Market Finds..

What a lovely Sunday morning for Flea Market Finds. I've just popped the kettle on and am so looking forward to enjoying checking out your lovely finds with week over a cup of tea or two. So my little find this week was something I've always wanted to find, hiding in a little box at the back of the sweetest of shops.

A lovely vintage telephone complete with instructions.
It seems my telephone collection is increasing as rapidly as my typewriters. I do adore accidentally creating new collections. How I just need somewhere to keep them!

My Creative Space..

Well, it seems from now until August 19th you may just find many of my creative space moments will be related to Grease. Right now my heart and soul is in this production, from the costumes, to the sets, the script and all the little messy details, it is my world.. and in it, Grease is the word. I always take photos of all the rehearsals, to assist the actors and dancers with their roles and to capture the moment. Here is a moment from dance rehearsals this week I really liked..

Flea Market Finds..

Good morning, on this lovely and brisk Flea Market Finds Day! How has your week been? Hope you have found a few interesting bits and pieces on your adventures this week. Thanks so much to everyone who played along last week. There were so many fabulous finds, especially some lovely old patterns. I think we have all been inspired by Kate's gorgeous dress making. Well some weeks you just never know what you will come across when your scouring the local op shops for hidden treasures. This week at the tip shop, Aroundagain I was delighted by my unusual discoveries.

My finds this week.. this fabulous 1960's radio, a sweet little vase and a super cute Kodak Instamatic camera.

I couldn't believe my luck to spot this lovely radio amongst the old computers and toasters. Not only has it found a perfect home on the mantel piece, I've also been searching for an old radio to use in the production of Grease, so it was a successful trip indeed.

My Creative Space..

Wow, it is indeed very late for my creative space today, but it has just been one of those weeks. Fabulous and exhausting, I've spent the last three evenings at Grease rehearsals and every free moment when I haven't been working, I've been doing rounds between the bank and car dealership. And it has paid off because this afternoon I signed the contract for a new Suzuki Swift. I'm so excited and can't wait to pick it up on Saturday. So my little studio has been a little lonely this week, while I've been playing dress up..

So this is me in my creative space this week... pretending to be a Pink Lady during the College Open Night.. We had a fabulous band rehearsal in the hall and I thought I'd dress up Grease style and had out flyers to the families. It was so much fun!

Flea Market Finds..

My! How this week has just disappeared right before my eyes. It seems like only yesterday I was writing about last week's Flea Market adventures! I had a quick whirl around Salvo's yesterday morning to find some lovely unexpected delights.

I found a lovely hat stand, something I've been wanting ever since watching Mary Poppins pull one out of her magic carpet bag. I also discovered these two lovely pashminas which will be perfect for this lovely Autumn weather.

Also on my travels I found this lovely little ceramic Buddha and a pair of rather fascinating jugs.

My Creative Space..

Is it really Thursday again, how can it be? Surely Thursday it was only yesterday! This week has flown by so quickly that almost all my spare moments have been filled by getting orders ready to post, creating some lovely custom orders and working on props and costumes for Grease. But in a few special moments I found a little time for my favourite afternoon outing, taking a walk, camera and journal in hand, to chase the local homing pigeons around the neighborhood and bask in the glorious afternoon Autumn sunshine.

Flea Market Finds..

What a delightful day for flea market finds on such a special day of the year. Happy Mother's day to mothers, step-mothers, mother's to be and mothers of furry friends. Wishing everyone a very beautiful day. So what finds have you discovered this week? Maybe you were even lucky enough to receive a second hand delight for Mother's Day. Thank you for all your lovely comments last week, always makes my day. Some of my favourite finds included, these fabulous phones, this sweet cake plate, these beautiful baskets and these gorgeous bags.

So yesterday in the company of a fabulous friend (and second hand expert) I spent a delightful morning locating some very sweet, strange and quirky bits and pieces. Our first stop was Rose Harvest and what fun we had! If you are ever in Mildura you just have to pop in and if you are anything like me you may never want to leave.

Just some of my finds.. a Japanese vase, a quirky telephone that's actually a radio, some lovely old thread and two very sweet little birds. I also found the lovely tea cup a few weeks back and forgot to share it.

My Creative Space..

This week I found a little room on my desk amongst the books and fabrics, to bring to life an idea I had the other night in a dream. There was a pile of old books and buttons and an enchanted tree.

Inspired by an intertwining of haberdashery and literature, I'm working on some new pieces of artwork featuring lovely buttons and fascinating vintage book pages, images and text from The Magic Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton.

The beautiful green fairy was always one of my favourite characters and inspired the beginnings of this little piece.

I hope you are having a lovely week, I do wish I had more photos to share but it seems as winter begins to set in and the days get shorter, there never seems to be quite enough sunshine anymore. I'll just have to get home from work sooner.
