A little about Me..

I was writing in my journal earlier and noticed a little page I had written a few months ago, perhaps in a strange urge to capture who I was at that very moment onto the page.  I thought I might share it with you...

Happy Weekend..

Happy Weekend! I hope everyone enjoyed a beautiful Royal day yesterday.  It was was such a beautiful moment in history.  I'm sure many celebrations will be continuing into the weekend.  For me, this weekend is all about fashion! Organising, photographing and getting everything ready for the opening of Sophie Isobel Vintage next week.  So much to do, I will be making the most of every moment this weekend. Here are a few of my favourite links from the week.

Cheers Dears!

With under two hours to go.. the guests are arriving and everything is in place for a little piece of Royal history.  The big moment is finally here.  Are you excited? I must admit, I am indeed.  What I can't what to see.. The dress, the kiss and of course the flowers.  I hope they might look something like my little bouquet I arranged for Tea for Joy's straw styling challenge.  A little adventurous perhaps? Check out all the real wedding flower details over here.

Cheers Dears!

My Creative Space..

Happy Thursday! It's lovely to be back after my little bohemian adventure and I can't wait to share some of the exciting new things I've been up to in the coming weeks, including Sophie Isobel Vintage.

My creative space this week is a little Project Restyle of this lamp I found a few months back.  I had to pull the lampshade apart completely which only left a thin frame to work with, so I thought it might be fun to use a vintage doily to create some lovely patterns on the walls.  Such an simple way to give an old lamp a new life.

For many more lovely Creative Spaces pop over to Kirsty's.

Happy Creating!

Bohemian Rhapsody.. Guest Post

I would like to introduce a very special guest on my blog today.. She loves, wild and nomadic interior design, indie music and underground cinema.  She is my partner in crime and has been a huge inspiration to me and my love for all things eclectic and beautiful..
She is my mum, Annie.

Hello, Her Library Adventures readers, it's such a pleasure to drop by today and share with you some of my inspiration for bohemian interior design.

I just love the life of  the  ‘high-style nomads' of fashions designer Liza Bruce and her husband, artist, Nicholas Alivs Vega, these stunning images featured in Elle Decor photographed by Simon Upton. The rich fabrics dance alongside the deep turquoise and magenta creating a gorgeous ecletic hideaway.  I’m so inspired to go out and create a gorgeous haven for myself and my husband!

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing the bohemian love.. Annie

My Creative Space.. Flower Power

So last night a did a little hippy crafting with my lovely friends Mag and Kate, to make some sweet flower arrangements to wear to Confest.  With my trusty hot glue gun in hand, I made this floral headband and a little wreath using some vibrant magenta and orange blossoms.

Now I can't wait to put my whole bohemian outfit together tomorrow morning, bright and early.  While I'm away I'll be scheduling regular posts with a hippy twist and I am hosting a very special guest blogger on Monday.  Flea Market Finds will also be running as usual, if you get a chance to do a little Easter thrifting.

I do hope you are having a wonderful Thursday!

Homes I Adore..Confetti Garden

This week I'm delighted to feature the home of Nicole and Jesse, the lovely people behind Confetti Garden, one of my very favourite Etsy shops for vintage treasures.  Situated in Indianapolis,  Nicole and Jesse's gorgeous home, which they share with their much adored pups Gertie and Bunny, is delightfully warm and inviting. Using fabulous bursts of colour and playful finds from yesteryear, around each corner there is something new to discover. Filled to the brim with second-hand treasures and beautifully decorated by the couple who 'live and breathe vintage', this eclectic home finds the perfect balance between Nicole and Jesse's personal styles. Nicole says, 'I tend to create spaces that are a cozy, eclectic mix of both vintage and modern styles with a sprinkling of whimsy and a dash of playfulness. Anything rough, raw and a wee bit weathered that is either earthy or industrial paired with layers of vintage floral prints makes my heart skip a beat.'

Nicole is certainly woman after my own heart! I just love the splashes of blue with the dining chairs and the florals paired with the intriguing iron bed.  And of course, the typewriter and the crochet blanket are touches I am always fond of!

For more images of Nicole and Jesse's home check out their flickr page and stop by their lovely new blog too.  Oh and don't forget to stop by Confetti Garden and have a look around, I promise you will be delighted! My favourites pieces, this vintage chalk globe and this wonderful vintage croquet set.

My New Project - Sophie Isobel Vintage

I am so excited to reveal my new project I've been hinting about for the past few weeks.. Sophie Isobel Vintage.  I have been dreaming about my very own vintage shop for the past eight years and I finally I feel like I have done the thrifting miles and I'm ready to share the vintage love.

Sophie Isobel Vintage will open online soon and will specialise in women's vintage clothing and accessories from 1950's to 1990's and quirky vintage homewares.

Today I did a photo shoot with my gorgeous friend Krystal to capture some of the signature pieces in my first collection.  We shot in the back alley behind the local art gallery and made use of some lovely artwork and exposed walls.  I was so excited with how it all came together, I just couldn't wait to share a little bit of it with you.

There will be more sneak peeks and a giveaway over two next weeks so stay tuned.

Hello Autumn..

Autumn really is my favourite season and it has begun a little later than usual here.  It is only in the last week that our maple tree has begun shedding it's lovely golden leaves, almost one at a time. Yesterday afternoon I thought I might bring the beauty of Autumn inside.. so I create a little series of tumbling leaves on our lovely old bedroom door which faces out to the lounge room. Inspired by Pia's cardboard hearts, I used our maple leaves as templates to create a few dancing Autumn leaves.  I do love watching leaves fall to the ground, it's reminds me to venture from home, to fly free and explore the world.

PS. I cut out my maple leaves whilst listening to this inspiring and soul inspiring tune..

Much Love Monday..

Today I love, crafting in the afternoon with my Olive Possum, my very cheeky kitty that loves to play with anything that falls on the ground.  I looked down a moment ago, to find this little fortuitous heart that Olive had made.   So cute!

For more of Much Love Monday, pop over and see the lovely Anna.

The Story of the Red Shoes..

I love red shoes.. I always have.
And as yet I have never quite found the perfect pair.
I saw them once.. but they already had a lovely owner.

I was in my third year of university and I was visiting a friend to work on a production piece.  She had a few people over when I arrived including, a strikingly beautiful young woman wearing the most magical pair of red peep toed heels I have ever seen.  The image of these shoes has stayed with me ever since.  Their beautiful owner, as enigmatic as the shoes themselves was burlesque dancer, Lola the Vamp.

Since that moment seven years ago, I've been searching.. This pair photographed by the talented Sarah Rhoads come very close to perfection.  Now I just need to find them in real life and perhaps that is half the fun.

Flea Market Finds..

Happy Sunday! I hope you are having a wonderful weekend and have found a few moments to search for a little thrifting.  As always last week was full of some gorgeous vintage gems, be sure to check them all out over here.

This week I've been in a little thrifting wonderland! The fun of being on holiday is being able to spend hours peacefully rummaging through every thrift shop in town.. oh and have I had some fun! I've found some wonderful bits and pieces for my new project which I'm be revealing a little bit more about this week.  And I also thrifted some lovely things for my nest too.

So I wrote up my dream thrifting list on Friday and couldn't believe my luck when I went searching yesterday, I discovered one of the items on my list.  I am constantly on the search for vintage owls and I've never had any luck in the past but all my dreams came true with this little vintage Otagiri stationery holder.

I also found some other lovely little woodland creatures including a bird and the cutest 1950's deer. A Johnson  Brothers plate and teacup named Antoinette added to my pretty collection this week.

I also found a few outfits to take to Confest later this week.  I especially love this 1990's sheer floral dress.

And I just couldn't resist giving you a sneak peek at my retro find of the week.. an incredible 1970's maxi dress which is one of the highlights of my new project.  I'm so excited and can't wait to share more with you very soon.

So what have you found this week?  To play along just leave a comment and add your flea market blog post link in the Linky below so we can all check out your goodies. It would be just so sweet of you to link back here from your blog too, so that others can play along.  Remember you can play any time during the week! A Little Alice..

Do you ever have moments when you just have to watch a scene from a particular film? This afternoon I had a sudden urge to watch All in the Golden Afternoon from Disney's Alice in Wonderland.  As I searched for the lovely flower tune, I stumbled upon this fabulous little remix made by Pogo, which I thought was just so much fun, I had to share it. The clip is beautifully edited and highlights all those glorious 1950's colours and the world's cutest teapot collection.

Happy Weekend..

Hello lovely weekend! It is the most delight crisp Autumn morning here in Mildura, the kettle is boiling, the birds are chirping and the weekend has begun perfectly.  I woke up early this morning, bursting with excitement, words and ideas scrambling to get out of my head and onto a page. Better fire up the sewing machine and charge the camera batteries, looks like it is going to be a creative weekend indeed. Here are a few lovely links that have been inspiring me this week.

A Pretty Coat Hanger..

I just couldn't resist taking part in Kirsty's Hanger Challenge.. So here is my little Autumn Hanger, made with a bit of fabric and ribbon.  Nothing quite as fancy as Kirsty's, but seriously addictive and fun to make.  Now I'm looking at the rest of my boring hangers.. oh the possibilities!

Check out all the inspiring hangers over here and while your at it, why don't you join in? I know there is at least one ugly little wire hanger in your wardrobe, desperate for a makeover.

My Creative Space..

My creative space is a little bohemian this week.. You see I'm off to Confest next week with a wonderful group of friends for a few days of hippy living, laughter, yoga and chai.  I'm so looking forward to a little bohemian getaway, I've been thrifting some sweet flowing skirts and crocheting a lovely scarf with some beautiful soft teal yarn.  I just wish I could take a lovely tepee to camp in, but I will be doing my best to decorate my little tent with some hippy touches inspired by this beautiful blog.

More lovely creative space over at Kirsty's.  She has whipping up the most delightful coat hangers! Pop back later today to see my take on the hanger challenge

Happy Thursday!

Friday Afternoon.. It's Geekchic

Happy Friday! I'm very excited on this lovely Friday afternoon.
First of all it's now officially school holidays, which means I get a lovely two weeks to drink tea, play with my fabulous creative friends and finish all the projects I keep starting.

The second reason I'm excited is beacuse, I've been featured over on It's Geek Chic. Pop over and check out my ramblings about Her Library Adventures and a few of my own blogging tips.

Thirdly, my new Inside Out magazine arrived in the mail today and it is just bursting with beautiful pages. I think it's my favourite edition ever. If it is not sitting on your coffee table at the moment, you must pop out to the supermarket and pick up a copy (just pretend you need more cat food). One of my favourite pages is the gorgeous arrangement of tea cosies styled by the fabulous Phoebe McEvoy

I was so inspired, I just couldn't resist sharing my favourite tea cosy with you.  You see, I know it's really retro, but it's my favourite because I borrowed for my Nan's bottom drawer and love it so much, I've kept it ever since. Don't worry, she has plenty more. It gets used every day and was even worn as a beanie once, but that's a story for another day. Oh and my tea pot was a gift from the cast of Grease last year, isn't it the sweetest.

Hope you are having a wonderful Friday too!

My Creative Space..

This week I've been creating in the quiet moments, pottering I suppose, just adding little things here and there.  A few images to my journal and musing or two along the way.  One of my evening delights has been a spot of crochet, particularly trying a little crochet flower square pattern by Rose Hip. And to my delight last night, the petals finally came together to create my first little flower.  Now I can't  wait to create a whole little garden of them.  Looks like my bowerbird crochet project just took an interesting flowery turn.

For many more lovely Creative Spaces, pop over to Kirsty's place.

Happy Thursday!

Making Me Smile..

This beautiful little film never fails to make me smile and want to fill my world with lovely fabric, pretty doilies and a fabulous caravan.  Oh and give my sewing machine a cute nanna name.

Homes I Adore..

This week's home just makes my heart sing! It belongs to none other than the lovely Ingrid Jensen who runs the fabulous company Wood & Wool Stool.  Ingrid's beautiful Netherlands home, just like her innovate and unique products, is a juxtaposition of raw beauty and delightful details. Working with a subtle, white canvas and adding her signature bold colours and crochet accents, Ingrid's home exemplifies the perfect balance of eclectic modern design. Just how beautiful is that cupboard brimming with wool and the buckets bursting with orange ranunculus blooms.

For many more beautiful images, check out Ingrid's blog and flickr page.  And of course, you must pop over to Wood & Wool Stool and take a peek at all Ingrid's wonderful products.  I would just love one of her pretty stools for my lounge room.
