Flea Market Finds..

The happiest of Sundays to you my thrifty friends! How has your weekend been? I hope you are having a lovely Sunday and I just know that you've managed to fit in a little thrifting this week. There are certainly some fabulous thrifting vibes in the air at the moment! Pop over here to check out all the wonderful finds from last week.

So this week, it seems that the flea market fairies were on my side.  Everywhere I went, I found something I'd been searching for!

So my Tuesday outing delivered a couple of gorgeous bright scarves, a lovely 1970's jug and these fabulous red shoes that are now my absolute new favourites.  And yesterday I was so delighted to finally find a yellow owl tea cosy!

I also stumbled upon a little blue case yesterday.. now I can feel the typewriter vibes from a mile away and was so excited to open the case to find this lovely blue Lemair.  I'm not sure if this one will be added to my collection, or to the ever increasing shop stash.  It's a tough decision!

So what have you found this week?  To play along just leave a comment and add your flea market blog post link in the Linky below so we can all check out your goodies. It would be just so sweet of you to link back here from your blog too, so that others can play along.  Remember you can play any time during the week! Oh and pop over to Apron Thrift Girl for Thrift Share Monday.  Please feel free to upload your fabulous finds to the Flea Market Finds flickr pool too.   Looking forward to seeing all of your lovely thrifty pictures. If the Linky disappears, just refresh your browser.

PS. It's not too late to join in my 'Journal Week' which begins on Monday.  Email me at sophieisobeldesigns[at]hotmail[dot]com if you are a journal lover and would like to share your story and images.

Highlights from the Circus..

Last night my hubby took me to the Great Moscow Circus and it was so much fun! I really felt like a kid again and spent a good portion of the night on the edge of my seat, gasping at the amazing tricks and giggling at the crazy clowns.

The highlight of the night of course was the 'Globe of Death' (bottom right).  Inside four crazy guys on motorbikes spin around and the cage splits in two! It was really quite thrilling.  The whole atmosphere was just as I remembered and I walked (danced) out of the big top, as I had many years before.. Feeling that same electric energy, just pulling me in, calling me to join the fun.

Oh how I would love to join the circus!

Happy Weekend..

Happy Weekend! I hope your weekend has been lovely so far.  I've started my Saturday with a lovely brunch with friends and a very successful outing thrifting and this afternoon I'm looking forward to a little researching, writing, listening to Triple J and dreaming I am at Splendour in the Grass.  It is the most amazing line up this year and I'd just love to be enjoying the festival vibe.  So I thought this week I'd bring you some festival inspired links so you can get into the spirit too.

If I was at Splendour in the Grass I would..

Be wearing a pair of these sunglasses

And this sweet romper and this lovely hat

Are you a Journal Lover?

I'm so excited to announce that next week on Her Library Adventures is Journal Week.  I've been an avid journal keeper since I was ten years old and I take my journal with me everywhere I go.  I know so many amazing journal keepers and I thought what better way to celebrate this lovely art form than with a week devoted to all the beautiful diaries, notebooks, sketchbooks and journals and stationery from around the world.

So to make this week happen, I'd love your help.  Do you keep a journal or know someone who does? Do you have a secret stash of notebooks or do you doodle on napkins  at restaurants.  I'd love to hear from all the journal lovers out there.  I'll be sharing some of my own pages, some of my favourite artists and of course some lovely journal eye candy too!

I'd love you to join in the week!
Email me at sophieisobeldesigns[at]hotmail[dot]com with your images, thoughts and stories.

Are you a collector?

I think I've always been a collector.. from the age of ten,  fossicking for shells and beads, to journals and cameras and now typewriters, telephones and green 1960's dresses, I love collecting adventures, searching little shops and garage sales for that special something that you've always been looking for.

So I'd love to know what are you currently collecting?

PS. Thank you so much for all your macaron tips! I realised after further reading I needed to do a little bit more research and preparation before taking the macaron plunge and I can't wait to learn a bit more and get baking.

Flea Market Finds..

Happy Sunday! I hope you are having a delightful weekend, which I'm sure will include a spot of thrifting and searching for that perfect addition to your latest collection. There were so many fabulous and colourful finds last week, be sure to check them all out over here and be inspired!

This week I had a few thrifty outings and when I put everything together today, I couldn't believe I'd shopped the whole week in the same colour palette.  I really must have a thing for primary colours at the moment.

So on Tuesday's outing I found a really lovely pair of never worn Joanne Mercer ballet flats, a fabulous 1970's fashion sewing book and a couple of pretty vintage scarves. And then yesterday, whilst at the tip shop I stumbled upon these two vases and the sweetest little Japanese owl.  The thing I love most about thrifting, is you  just never know what you are going to stumble across!

So what have you found this week?  To play along just leave a comment and add your flea market blog post link in the Linky below so we can all check out your goodies. It would be just so sweet of you to link back here from your blog too, so that others can play along.  Remember you can play any time during the week! Happy Weekend..

This weekend inpsired  by Home Sorted, my hubby and I are having a little pre Sping clean.  We've had great fun today, searching for some new and lovely second hand bits and pieces for the house.  There is nothing quite like moving things around and finally getting to all the must fix things on the to do list.  My favourite part is the styling of course and there will be more of that to come tomorrow.  Can't wait! What are you up to this weekend?  In the spirit of home decorating, here are a few links to some of my favourite interior design inspirations..

My Creative Space..

So this week, I've been hitting the books.  For the first time in four years, I'm back at university.  I'm doing my Masters through COFA and I'm so delighted to be 'back at school'.  One of the elective classes I've chosen is Fashion 1980 - Now and I can't wait to get started.  I did some work in fashion theory in my undergraduate degree and loved it so much! Really what's better than checking out fabulous fashion for 'research'.  So my creative space this week is full of lovely new stationery, lecture notes and magazines ready for action.  Don't you just love new stationery!

Check out all the wonderful creative spaces over here.

Best Bits of Brisbane..

Ever since I got back from my little trip to Brisbane, I couldn't wait to share some of my photos with you.  While I was there, I was delighted to get a new iPhone and merrily snapped away at every moment.  What I really love about it is, you have a camera with you all the time and it really changed my experience of capturing moments.. So here are just a few of my best bits of my adventures.

The beautiful Ferris Wheel at night, the amazing Mecca Bah where we went for early birthday celebrations, the yummiest lemon cake, made by my Aunty (served on vintage of course), and celebratory drinks.

The incredible Byron Bay, my sister and I hitting the town, my family get together at the Southport Yacht Club, and the most amazing bar, Cloudland.

Meeting the gorgeous Laura from Kit and Nancy (she and her vintage sheet collection rock my world), the wonderful Woollagabba Antique Centre, yummy chai with Laura at Max Brenner and the always beautiful Gold Coast beach at sunset.

So there you have it, a whirlwind wrap up! Makes me what to do it all over again.  But it's back to work today, only 13 more school weeks left until year twelve exams.  I can't quite believe it! I've got a few more exciting things to share with you this week, so stay tuned.

Also, if you use Instagram, I'd love to be friends.  My username is "herlibraryadventures".  If you don't have it, you totally should get it, it's so much fun.  But be warned, it is also totally  addictive!

Happy Monday!

Flea Market Finds..

Happy Sunday! Thanks so much for all my lovely birthday wishes yesterday, you are all so sweet. I hope your weekend has been as lovely as mine and you had a chance to get out and about in the delightful world of second hand.  Thanks for the wonderful turnout last week! It was the biggest Flea Market party ever.  It's always so exciting to see everyone's finds and you all inspire me to share the vintage love.  So much so, I have a special treat planned for later in the year, which I can't wait to tell you more about. Check out last week's finds here

So this week, because I'd already found my pretty little deer, I wasn't too fussed about going searching for finds. The flea market fairies had already done a fabulous job.  However, I couldn't resist a peek into my local favourite spots and of course, the moment you'rs not really looking.. something always turns up.

Imagine my husband's face, when I walked through the door (after saying 'I won't be long, probably won't find anything') carrying a vintage suitcase and crazy anchor wine rack. We certainly had a good laugh.  As you know I love anything to do with pirates, so I especially love the wine rack, although I'm thinking it might be the perfect place to store magazines instead.

So what have you found this week?  To play along just leave a comment and add your flea market blog post link in the Linky below so we can all check out your goodies. It would be just so sweet of you to link back here from your blog too, so that others can play along.  Remember you can play any time during the week! Home..

Well after a 5am start, I'm back home in beautiful wintery and overcast Mildura.. I had such an amazing week away, I've got more photos to share with  you a little later, but I thought I'd check in first.  Of course the first place I went as soon as the plane landed was to Spotlight (as you do).  There was also a stop off at the hardware store for a few more supplies for a special and very fun project I'm working on which I can't wait to share with you tomorrow.  When I got home I just had to take this photo, because if you look carefully you can see Olive in the left hand window, waiting for me.  She is just so cute!

We've just arrived home from the movies, of course my second request on arriving home was to see Harry Potter.  I've been a fan for the last ten years and oh my, I needed a few tissues by the end of the film.

Now I'm off to play with some chicken wire and masking tape (told you it was a fun project!)

What are you up to on this lovely Wednesday!

Flea Market Finds..

Happy Flea Market Finds day! I hope you are having a beautiful Sunday and have enjoyed some great thrifting this week.  Here in Brisbane, it has been perfect weather for thrifting and it's been such a treat to search some new haunts for second hand treasures.  You can check out all the fabulous finds from last week, right over here.

So whilst I was in Paddington on Thursday, one of my first stops was Latrobe Terrace to check out two of my favourite thrift shops, Endeavours and St Vinnies.  I stumbled across so many wonderful bits and pieces but due to a small amount of suitcase space, I settled on a few things for Sophie Isobel Designs.

I love this vintage jacket, who doesn't enjoy a pop of colour!

And a few more floral dresses for my Spring collection..

Whilst in Byron Bay I stumbled upon the gorgeous boutique Spell and rummaged through their pretty vintage scarf collection to find these..

So what have you found this week?  To play along just leave a comment and add your flea market blog post link in the Linky below so we can all check out your goodies. It would be just so sweet of you to link back here from your blog too, so that others can play along.  Remember you can play any time during the week! A Perfect Day..

It really was the most perfect day in Byron Bay.. There is something very special about this place.  Every time I see the turn off, my heart flutters with the joy I felt going to Clarke's Beach as a kid.

My outfit for the day included my new vintage tie dyed slip I found last week..

We celebrated the day with lunch at the Byron Beach Cafe overlooking the sparkling ocean.

And I visited my favourite local boutiques including the gorgeous Strange Trader.

I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful adventure and can't wait to share more with you soon.

I've been teasing about this amazing 1970's maxi dress ever since this post and I was so delighted to see my beautiful friend Cassie modelling it for me yesterday.  It's not long to go now, only one more photo shoot and I'm ready to open my little online doors. Flea Market Finds..

Happy Sunday everyone! I'm so excited to be sharing our lovely finds this week. I've missed thrifting whilst I was away, but in true Sophie style I did manage to find a op shop in the little town of Wycheproof on the way back from retreat and couldn't resist taking a peak inside.  Thanks so much to everyone who played along last week in my absence.  Fabulous finds as always, pop over here to check them all out.

So of course one of the first things I did when I got home after being away for the week, was go thrifting of course.  And what an interesting little stash I came home with.  For me, one of the most fabulous parts of thrifting is you just never know what you will find and yesterday was no exception.

In my stash was a lovely sketch print of old New York, a set of adorable vintage spice shakers, the sweetest Pyrex tea set (I'm in love with the little flower pattern) and the two Japanese cups I found in Wycheproof.

I also scored this lovely mustard handbag, a pretty New Zealand made jug and the most charming vintage tie dyed slip.  I actually squealed a little when I pulled it off the rack.  I can't wait to wear it!

So what have you found this week?  To play along just leave a comment and add your flea market blog post link in the Linky below so we can all check out your goodies.
