Eclectic Living.. Workspaces

For me, there is nothing more inspiring than seeing an amazing workspace, a real creative environment alive and buzzing with idea, clutter and a even a little chaos.  I'm often spellbound by the way different people set up their studio spaces, creating little nooks for all their precious bits and pieces, supplies and collections.  It's almost as if their journals and sketchbook pages come to life and leap off the pages and onto the walls.  Here are a few of my favourite workspaces..

I just love everything about Selina Lake's gorgeous space.  The bright colours, organised stashes of fabric, paper and tape and quirky touches all add to the warm and inviting feel.

The beautiful white walls and floors in  Tiina Laakkonen's space are the perfect canvas for her striking rug and beautiful collection of framed ephemera.  I'm also a huge fan of leaning frames and canvases against the wall to add a creative, lived in touch.

Asher Israelow and Jamie Goldenberg have made clever use of this lovely old writing desk, mounting it to the wall and surrounding it with light open bookshelves, filled with their collection of books and vintage cameras.

This room is so delighful! A wonderful use of storage, both above and below the desk and boxes and racks used for smaller items.  The pops of colour are so much fun too and that great orange desk light would be perfect for working under at night.

And how could I resist including the workspace of fabulous Emily Chalmers (even though I'm almost positive I've posted this image before at some point).  Emily's use of textiles is just wonderful, the large floor rug and beautifully draped scarf curtain, soften the large space and dark wood and add Emily's playful sense of personal style.

What do you love in a workspace? What does your looks like? I'd love to hear about it!
Much Love

  6. What beautiful spaces! Just goes to show that you don't need to have a big fancy office, just a cute vintage desk in your own corner of the house :)

  10. I love these! I work best by surrounding myself with color. I have a huge tapestry that I brought back from Africa as a back drop to my desk in my office. People are a little surprise when they see it, but I love it! It's all about your own personality!

  14. Oh these are lovely. I'm dying to have a little studio something similar to photo 4 but our flat is far too small sadly... One day!

My work space is currently a mess, need to get myself organised again and get a bit more storage then I'll be a lot happier! Thanks for these, really nice bits of inspiration :) x

  15. The room with the orange lamp is my favourite. I'm busy organizing my work room at the moment so I can just start working instead of looking for things and trying to find some space every time.

  16. they're all beautiful! i adore looking at other people creative space, they often inspire me more than my own! i struggled keeping my excessive stash under control, but love all the colour and clutter the greets me as i enter the room. i keep my computer desk fastidiously neat but everything else is an organised shambles. it's easy to spend the day just pottering around poking through bits and pieces which suits me fine. next aim is the backyard studio with a bit more space!

  18. Wow, I really love Emily's. The scarf curtain and old wood unit are perfection!

I wish my workspace was so picture worthy :)

My favorite workspace organization is creating interesting cubby holes with a mix of boxes from thrifts and yard sales.
