What Are You Reading?

With holidays just around the corner, I can't wait to cross a few books off my epic 'to read' list.  On the top of the list are the must 'reread' texts, that I'll be teaching next semester which include, A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemingway (one of my very favourites), the collected poems of T.S. Eliot and Ransom by David Malouf.  One I've added post it notes to those, I'm looking forward to reading The Paris Wife by Paula McLain for an extra touch of 1920s Parisian nostalgia.

I'd love to know what you're reading at the moment and what you've enjoyed of late, so I can add it to my list!

What I Wore.. A Winter's Afternoon

Jacket: Target  Dress: Kmart
Boots: Vintage from Vintage Sole  Hat: Accessorize
Tights: Cotton On  Belt: Sportsgirl

I love putting together unexpected outfits, especially in winter.  With so many layers and accessories to play with, the options seem almost endless. For weeks I'd been wondering what to wear these burgundy tights with and this morning just by chance I noticed they matched perfectly with one of my favourite winter hats which I bought in London back in 2005. Then I realised my hat matched my new jacket and hooray, my winter wardrobe just became a little more colourful.  I still have a big crush on stripes at the moment and this knit dress is so warm and comfortable, I'm hoping it will see me and my bump through to the end of winter.  I'm off to Brisbane on Friday to visit my beautiful family for a week and I can't wait!  I'm really looking forward some slightly warmer weather, family thrifting adventures and of course to do a spot of shopping.

What are your favourite winter accessories?

Flea Market Finds..

Happy Sunday my thrifting friends! Flea Market Finds is coming to you a little later than usual today because  Ben and I took a little second hand adventure today, across the border in search for a few lovely treasures.  I hope you weekend has been wonderful too and you've found a few free moments to catch up on some fabulous weekend behaviour. Pop over here to check out last week's lovely finds.

So today's adventure took us to one of my favourite antique stores which is brimming with beautiful ephemera and wonderful history. I love searching for treasures out of town, it always feels that little more special when you stumble across something you've been hunting for.  Here's what we discovered today..

One of my favourite finds.. this pretty little Hostess Tableware cup and saucer. I'd love a matching dress in that print!

My other favourite.. This set of blue Pyrex mixing bowls.  No words needed.. I'm in love!

And this cheeky pair called to me the moment I walked in the door.. and for $4 who could resist those polka dots!

Just as we were leaving I noticed this vintage tin on the shelf.. On closer inspection I realised the pattern was created using pieces of felt.  It really is the perfect place to stash craft room goodies.

I'd love to know what you found this week. To play along just leave a comment and add your flea market blog post link in the Linky below so we can all check out your goodies. It would be just so sweet of you to link back here from your blog too, so that others can play along. Remember you can play any time during the week! Oh and pop over to Apron Thrift Girl for Thrift Share Monday.  Looking forward to seeing all of your lovely thrifty pictures. If the Linky disappears, just refresh your browser.

Happy Weekend..

Happy Weekend! I hope you're enjoying a lovely Saturday.  I'm so glad it's the weekend and it's the first one in a over a month that I have totally free from work and University commitments.  I spent most of the day catching up with my favourite girls at Fine and Sunny, sipping amazing hot chocolate and working on a crochet scarf.  I couldn't think of a more delightful way to spend the day.  Tomorrow Ben and I are off on a little road trip just across the border to one of my favourite antique shops for a little second hand adventure.  I always love a Sunday drive and can't wait to listen to our favourite songs and talk about our super exciting months ahead.  What are you up to this weekend? I'd love to hear about your Saturday adventures.  If you are looking for a touch of inspiration.. why don't you?

Embrace the day and enjoy the weather.. even if it's raining.  It's the perfect reason to carry a cute umbrella and perhaps even invest in a fabulous pair of hunter boots.

Start a sweet weekend crochet project.. How about a super cute pot holder for the kitchen.

Bake something seriously delightful like these vanilla bean blueberry cupcakes with heart macarons.  So cute!

Get inspired by Elizabeth's gorgeous outfit and don't be afraid to mix up colours and patterns, wear a scarf in your hair, embrace fun tights and take a perfect brown slouchy bag everywhere you go.

Make the cute and simple brooch using a fun eraser! Just another great reason to visit the newsagency this weekend.

Feeling crafty.. Why not get stitching and find some wonderful inspiration from the queen of all things stitchy, Lucky Jackson

Sing a silly song.. My grandfather used to sing this song to my sister and I when we were little and it is one of my favourite childhood memories.  I think I need this gorgeous print for my living room wall.

Create your very own personal library.  Don't have a huge collection of books or just out of space, write a list of all the books you'd love to have in your library one day.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Midweek Thrifting..

It's been a super busy week, but I managed to sneak in a little bit of thrifting this afternoon and was delighted with my finds.  Even though it was cold and raining outside, it takes just one lovely treasure to make the day so much more lovely.

My favourite find of the day is this gorgeous vintage paintbox of watercolours.. I'd love to know what they have painted.

I can never resist a pretty side plate and piece of Crown pottery is just filled these such gorgeous intricate details.

Another fun find is this vintage ice cream tin.. I love the colours and retro flower.

And this sweet floral print.. I can't wait to have a big enough collection to hang all together to make a whole wall of floral love.

Have you been thrifting yet this week? Can't wait to hear about your adventures.

Thank you..

I just wanted to say thank you so much for all your beautiful comments and emails from yesterday's post. It means so much to Ben and I and it is such a joy to be able to share our new adventure with such a wonderful, caring community.

I must also to thank my beautiful sister for taking our announcement photos and to Ben for writing the post.  When we spoke about making the announcement, I kept on getting lost for words.  I found myself so overwhelmed with emotions that nothing I wrote seemed quite right.  As we were driving to take the photos, Ben said that he would like to write the post.  I was so delighted and couldn't think of a more perfect way to share the news.  He actually used a few lines from his wedding speech which certainly bought tears to my eyes and made our new journey seem all the more real and amazing.

So now you know my secret squirrel business and why it's been a little bit quiet around here over the past month.  I'm officially in my second trimester today and I'm enjoying having more energy and getting back to feeling a little bit more like my enthusiastic self again.  As for the blog, well Her Library Adventures will be back to normal again soon, well perhaps there will be a few more thrifted baby treasures.  I'm also looking forward to sharing my weekly what I wore post, featuring some fun and vintage inspired maternity styling.  And of course I'm also a little bit excited about decorating the nursery, so I'm sure there will be a few cute DIYs too.

I'm also looking forward to sharing some more exciting news about Wilde Asher and our upcoming launch soon too.
So many wonderful things happening at the moment!

I hope you are having a most delightful day!

What We Wore..Our Little Secret

Sophie - Dress: Red Velvet  Jacket: Portmans
Shoes: Poetic Licence Tights: Cotton On
Belt: Sportsgirl  Brooch: Vintage

Ben - Shirt: Cotton On  Jeans: Jeans West
Shoes: Dunlop Tie: Thrifted

Hello, I’m Ben, husband and partner in adventure to Sophie.

I know it's a little strange for a husband to be guest posting on his wife’s blog, especially when you haven’t heard too much about me. I'm the one that's usually behind the camera during these outfit posts.  But today I've got a secret to share. The past nine years by Sophie’s side have entailed by far the most amazing experiences I have ever had. Our adventures first began on the night of a Rugby World Cup final. Australia lost that year, but I didn't. Over the years they have included a trip to Europe, a move to the Sunset Country and many interesting experiences in between, especially a million and one weird and wonderful thrifting outings.

Now Sophie and I are so very excited to announce our new adventure, a tiny new addition to our library adventures due in Mid-December. We now embark upon our most wonderful and exciting time yet.

Much love to my beautiful wife and mother to be.
