My World in July..

July.. What an amazing month it has been, full of celebration, love, kindness and wisdom, it's been one I will always remember.  As I look back at over the last four weeks, I can't quite believe how quickly the days have danced on by, filled with planning, nesting and embracing the final trimester of this remarkable journey.  And as I hang tiny onesies on the line to dry, put the finishing touches on the nursery and embrace nanna naps in the afternoon sunshine that seeps through our bedroom window, I enjoy each moment, breath it all in and as patiently (and calmly) as possible await our new adventure to begin.

Weather: Without a doubt it's been one of the most beautiful winters I've experienced and has reminded me of my childhood, growing up in Cairns, still going to the beach, wearing sandals and straw hats in the middle of winter.  The occasional rainy day has brought with it the perfect opportunity to relax, nest and the chance to enjoy some amazing rainbows.

Writing: This month, for the first time in years, I've branched away from my much loved moleskine journal, to document my thoughts and feelings about this beautiful pregnancy journey in it's own space.  After collecting pages from notebooks that I'd scribbled in the early days and creating a little archive, it has been such a positive experience to set my hand and mind free to explore all the emotions that come with this precious experience.

Making: While I had anticipated making a few more bits and pieces for our home, especially the nursery, I found myself instead enjoying creating decorations for my baby shower. Making simple paper flowers, bunting and packs for the day's craft activity was a lovely way to spend some creative time with my mum and sister.  There will be much more making to come in August!

Baking: July has brought with it a few lovely experimental recipes, including a milo chocolate pudding (one of those nothing in the cupboard, cold evening desserts) and a few batches of macadamia and white chocolate biscuits inspired by Tabitha Emma's recipe.

Reading: While much of my evening reading has been a wonderful variety baby related literature,  I'm loving relaxing in the mornings with a copy of Country Style or The Simple Things.  I'm also adoring The Vintage Tea Party Book, a special baby shower gift from my sister in law.

Daydreaming about:  This month inspired by vignette making and market wandering I've been daydreaming about the little market stall I can't wait to set up over the summer, the book I've been planning and writing for many years and the secret little stationery and bookshop I would love to open someday.  Although a little way off, these lovely daydreams keep me inspired and motivated to always seek out grand adventures.

Planting & Harvesting: July has seen two gardens planted in our little nest, filled with veggies and herbs, just the very beginnings of our sustainable little sanctuary.  Our dill, coriander and parsley are already finding their way into evening meals and the passionfruit vine in the backyard is brimming with fruit.  I can't wait for the strawberries and limes to follow suit.

Inspired by: I've been so very fortunate to spend time with some incredibly talented women this month who have each been so inspiring in my life for many years.  It's been such a privilege to connect with Pia Jane Bijkerk, Megan Morton and Kara Rosenlund and share in the wisdom, passion and love that each brings to their creative pursuits. My soul is aflutter with ideas and a knowing that I've finally found the path I've been searching for.

Special moments to come: August brings with it a very special time in our world, to reflect on the past twelve months and look forward to the amazing times ahead.  This weekend we are heading up to Maleny, to the same beautiful cottage where we spent our honeymoon.  This time we are enjoying a very special babymoon, to celebrate our beautiful growing family.  This month we also to hold each other close as we commemorate the first anniversary of our angel Cohen.  And while I know some days will be much easier than others in August, I am reminded of the beautiful sunrise I was blessed to witness on my birthday. I now know in my heart that those beaming rays of light can always penetrate even the darkest storm clouds and bring with them a beautiful new day full of hope.

Thank you for sharing in the little moments from my July.

Secondhand Maternity Style - 31 Weeks..

Dress (worn as top): Vintage - Thrifted Cardigan: Target (2011)
Jeans: Mavi Maternity Shoes: Saltwater Sandals (2012)
Brooch: Vintage  Bangle: Wilde Asher Sunglasses: c/o Mix Apparel

Winter days have never felt so full of adventure as they do right now... There always seems to be something happening, joy to be found around every corner.  And living by the beach makes weekends just that much more exciting and gives every reason to dust off ones Saltwater sandals and favourite vintage summer dress (now very much worn as a top) and add a bunch of colour to my Sunday outfit. These photos are actually from two Sundays ago (I'm playing catch up) on our whale watching, market wandering, paint buying adventures.  I really wanted to find a bright wall to take these bump shots in front of and as luck would have it, on our way back from the hardware store (searching for nursery makeover supplies) this fabulous orange shipping container was perfectly positioned in a carpark.  You've got to love a pretty shipping container, especially after seeing photos of all the gorgeous pop up shops in the Very Small Mall at Splendour in the Grass.  What a fun idea!

I hope you're having a beautiful start to your week!

Weekend Adventures.. Peregian Beach Markets

Sunday mornings on the Sunshine Coast just seem to be made for market wandering and we are very blessed to live just five minutes up the road from the gorgeous Peregian Beach Markets.  Sunday was the most perfect winter weather for these beachside markets which are filled with local artisans, vintage treasures and unexpected delights.  The salty sea air infused with the sweet aroma of homemade chai and fresh herbs perfectly captures the essence of the beautiful community spirit and creative energy of this fortnightly marketplace.

A few of my favourite stalls included, the gorgeous summer dresses at Knickerbocker Bloom,  Nanna's Lovely Linen for vintage delights and lovely array of herbs and seedlings at Ian's Herbs.  And it was hard to miss the beautifully enchanting gypsy wagon and beautiful handmade clothing created by The Velvet Wren. Such a magical stall, I can't wait to pop back very soon to find the perfect Spring skirt.

After a wander and a chat to some of the lovely stallholders, we headed across the road for a spot of brunch at the fabulous Raw Energy and to check out a few surfboards. If this weather is anything to go by, I think we'll be spending our whole summer at the beach.. and I can't wait!

If you're heading up to the Sunshine Coast, be sure to pop into the gorgeous hidden treasure of Peregian Beach, especially then the markets are on (1st and 3rd Sunday of every month).  Such a lovely way to spend enjoy the weekend.

July Journal Pages..

The winter rain has set in over the last few weeks and I've found myself pottering lovingly around our nest, rearranging, creating and making each room feel like home. Friday afternoons have brought with them a new soul nourishing tradition as I gather my favourite supplies, get cozy on the couch with a cup of tea and create a page or two in my inspiration journal.  There is always something so lovely about seeing each page come to life, telling a story, sharing a hidden dream or simply channeling creative energy.  It's not long now until these times will become a little more infrequent, so I embrace the quiet moments, whilst dreaming about the exciting months to come.. Here are a few of my July pages.

In a World of Good.. Inspired by beautiful spaces and delightful recipes.

A Little Note.. Inspired by my secret daydreams of one day owning a  little stationery & bookshop in Paris.

Winter's Welcome.. Inspired by cherished still life moments and everyday beauty.

 My favourite little details..

Next week I'll be sharing a little bit more about my journaling process and a few secrets to create pages you love without needing to buy every magazine in the newsagency (although with so many beautiful publications around, it's often very tempting).

Secondhand Maternity Style - 30 Weeks..

Dress: Borrowed from my mum's fabulous wardrobe  Jacket: Thrifted
Tights: Target  Boots: Rivers
Brooch: Vintage

Oh what fun it is to find something to wear out to your own birthday celebrations when your in your 30 weeks pregnant and your current idea of a lovely night in is your husband cooking, crocheting baby goodies on the couch and going to bed before 9pm.  With some love and persuasion from my beautiful family and a little afternoon of playing dress ups, the solution was this fun retro inspired dress teamed with my favourite boots and trusty black jacket.  My gorgeous sister snapped a few photos before we headed out to my new favourite dinner spot, Mooshka at Sunshine Beach followed by a wonderful evening of jazz performed by none other than my sister and brother in-law's fabulous band, Big Kitty. It was such a great night, with lovely company and even a spot of dancing. I think our little bubba already loves a bit of good old jazz!

This week it's back to quiet nights in, reading baby books, watching cooking shows and family snuggles on the couch. Good times!

29 - A New Chapter..

This morning at 6:34am I watched the sunrise on my 29th year. We sat on the beach and looked out upon the horizon, storm clouds edging ever closer to the shore.  I wondered for a moment if the sun would even make an appearance. But then as if by some kind of birthday magic, the cloud's white tips began to turn a soft shade of pink and sure enough, full of warmth and love, the sun burst through the clouds for a new day.. and for me a brand new year.

28 was a challenging year, the most difficult I have ever endured.  At times I wondered if the storm clouds would ever lift, if that sun would ever show me a glorious new day.  Slowly through, between the days of sadness, there were moments of light, trickling quietly into my world.  And as one year ended and a new one began, the most remarkable of all sunrises light up our world, a very own little miracle.  Since that day, each morning the sun has been shining that little bit brighter in my life and now this morning, I was blessed to witness the birth of a new chapter, as those electric rays of light parted the storm clouds and filled my soul with unconditional love, gratitude and joy.

Here's to 29... the year I've been waiting for.  The journey of motherhood in the making, an amazing adventure on the horizon and a whole new love filling our world.

Maternity Restyle - 29 Weeks..

Dress: Sugar Babe (2012) Jeans: Mavi Maternity (2012)
Cardigan: Target (2012) Belt & Shoes: Kmart
Brooch: Vintage

As we walked back to our car after our Sunday Finders Keepers adventure, I was searching for a little spot to stop and take some photos.  The beautiful grandeur and elegance captures me each time I visit and as I paused to look back at the lovely architecture from across the road, I also found a nice shady tree and lovely view.  I always love putting together a fun outfit to wear to Finders Keepers but this year I thought would prove a little more tricky.  I'd kept a few 'hopefully they might fit' dresses in my wardrobe and to my delight this springtime favourite worked as a long top over my much loved jeans. I love a little bit of maternity restyling and I'm looking forward to seeing what else I can rework over the coming weeks for my birthday celebrations and baby shower.

This week after finally sorting out a good portion of our nest, I've embarked on the creation of our little adventurer's nursery and oh my I'm having so much fun.  It's so exciting to see everything coming together! It seems over the years I've been thrifting and squirreling away some perfect treasures to create an eclectic and whimsical little room.   I can't wait to share a few of the DIYs I'm working on and a sneak peek very soon.

July Seven Vignettes..

With each month comes the styling fun of Seven Vignettes and this time around Jen made it more challenging than ever before.  And the results were some of the most inspiring of the year.  It's so interesting to see how different creatives explore each theme and take their vignettes to a whole new level.  So here is my take on July's challenge, filled with little details and plenty of pattern and colour.

Day 1 - Celebration. Inspired by a celebration of creative moments...

Day 2 - Favourite Colour. Inspired by the most wonderfully cheerful hue. From saffron to citrine, mustard to lemon... Yellow fills me with joy.

Day 3 - Stationery. Inspired by my secret daydreams of one day opening a little stationery shop in Paris.

Day 4 - Contrasting. Inspired by the ever classic contrast of ephemeral black and white.

Day 5 - Winter. Inspired by some of my favourite winter pastimes.. Tea drinking, blanket snuggling, moment capturing, book reading & afternoon fossicking.

Day 6 - Cheerful. Inspired by sunsets, inspiring artists, backyard blossoms, beach walks and the perfect scent of summer citrus.

Day 7 - Cleaning. Inspired by 1970s fruity hues & old fashioned methods.

For the first time this year I finally had access to all my vintage ephemera and favourite bits and pieces, which made this month all the more fun. It seems I also had a thing for teacups, cameras and citrus too! My favourite days.. I really enjoyed making each one, but 'favourite colour' and 'cheerful' were especially enjoyable to create, as I found myself becoming a little bowerbird throughout the day, searching high and low for yellow and orange hues. The most challenging day was by far 'cleaning', although as soon as I realised I had some gorgeous vintage wallpaper from Laura which happened to match my little broom, the fruity colours all began to come together.

Thanks so much to Jen from Interiors Addict and Story of Us for a super fun week! Can't wait to see what Jen comes up with for August, I think I best start planning ideas soon.
